Companies That Count 2007

Imperial Tobacco Group PLC has been named as one of the top 100 'Companies That Count 2007' following the publication of Business in the Community's fifth annual Corporate Responsibility Index..

The Group participated in the Index for the second time, and has improved its performance from 86 per cent last year to 91 per cent this year, achieving a 'Gold' ranking.

Each participant was evaluated in terms of their corporate responsibility strategy, its integration into the business, management of corporate responsibility within the organization, and performance in a range of social and environmental impact areas.

This follows the Group's participation in the assessment conducted by SAM Research for the Dow Jones Sustainability Index 2006, where our overall score was 73 per cent compared with a sector average of 66 per cent.
